#WhatIWatched | March ’17

I’m really annoyed at myself that I haven’t been uploading these right at the end of the month, I also didn’t even write down all the things I watched so I’m now racking my brains to remember everything. Good one mate.

TV:

Love

This is the second season of this series I’m watching, and this season was a love/ hate thing. It’s a really realistic portrayal of what a relationship is like between two people with different issues, not being romanticized in anyway, but also it took a few turns with Mickey where I began to stop liking her and relating with her, and basically, thinking she was just being a real dick. It’s an interesting story, but I’m not sure how many series this show can have before it starts getting a bit sad and stale.

Iron Fist

We realized after starting to watch this that we were supposed to watch Daredevil (more on that in April’s post) before this. It’s not an entire necessity, but a lot of the things going on in the show are linked with it, as are the other Marvel shows, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. I really enjoyed the show, although Danny has the cliche “both my parents died when I was a kid” backstory, It’s actually linked to the underlying story that connects the rest of the Marvel shows. So I’ll let it go. I’m still very confused as to what his true quest in life is, but judging by the ending episode, the story is far from over.

Film:

The Nice Guys

I’d heard this was quite funny, so I popped it on during a visit from my family, and it had Ryan Gosling in it, so it’s a persuasion in itself, really. Ryan plays a clumsy, quite frankly quite incompetent detective, who teams up with Russell Crowe’s character (equally as disheveled and dodge)  in an attempt to uncover the truth surrounding a porn actresses death, in a pretty comedic style. I really enjoy Ryan’s comedy roles, his characters usually have that cocky, dry sense of humor/ just plain idiocy (he screams in horror pretty high pitched more that once in this) a good watch.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

I’ll admit, I wasn’t actually super enthusiastic about this film when it came out, and was in no rush to watch it, but I found myself presently surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I thought the mythical beasts would look a tad lame and too “fake” but, honestly, they looked amazing and I actually uttered a “wow” when he climbed inside his bag and revealed them all. I loved the character of Creedence (Ezra Miller), I thought he did an amazing job. Not so sure how I feel about Johnny Depp as a character in the HP universe, but we’ll see how that goes.

Sully

First of all, any film with Tom Hanks involved is always a yes from me. I just love him so much 😩 this film was one of his more serious roles however, in a *true story* about a pilot who is forced to land his plane in the Hudson river, following engine failure. Planes breaking is legit my biggest fear whether I’m in the sky or on the ground (I get worried ill be squashed one day donnie darko style) but if this captain was in control I’d live to tell the tale.

Passengers

Now. Chris Pratt is hilarious and I could watch him and his strange insta stories/ snaps all day. But this film honestly wasn’t the best. It was watchable, but the plot of two people waking up on a ship in space 90 or so years too early from their destination isn’t super exciting.

The Arrival

This film messed my brain up. So much confusion and feelings. I can honestly say this is one of the very few alien films I enjoyed and would watch again. It doesn’t take much for me to start rolling my eyes when extra terrestrial beings are involved, but this I was actually impressed by and pulled in. A very good watch.

Moana

What an amazingly visual film. The story line didn’t rely on a love story sub plot, it was all about a strong female lead, going out on a journey and not giving up even when everyone else told her she should. She’s definitely one of my new favourite princesses, alongside Mulan and Merida, who I think are fantastic role models for young  impressionable girls.

This month isn’t a long one, as I actually didn’t find myself sitting down watching something everyday, due to life simply being a bit, well, busy. So y’know I apologize for the fact that this post is so late into March.

TV:

Sneaky Pete

This show actually surprised me, as initially I didn’t expect it to be something that held my interest. I was wrong. The show is incredibly enticing with all of the mischief “Pete” gets up to, it really puts you in a good few nail biting/  ‘HOW did he do that?’ moments. Not to mention the “bad guy” role is played by none other than the fabulous Brian Cranston. Think Walter White, expect with more style, charm and a young pretty lady on his arm. The show could have ended at the end of the series, however the cliffhanger its left on seems equally exciting and I can’t wait to see the new set of problems ahead.

Bates Motel

I love this show. A “prequel spin off” of the 1960’s Classic Film Psycho, Bates Motel shows us the childhood of main character Norman and his life growing up with his mother Norma, how they first started up the business, and the story of Norman’s slow decent into the disturbed character he portrayed in the film. The show is so gripping, you really find yourself becoming emotionally invested in so many of the characters. I am yet to start season 5, as I want to binge them all at once without having to wait a week for the next episode, because I am the worst and have 0 patience.

Film:

The Girl On The Train

Wow. This film was incredibleeee. The twists and turns this film takes is thrilling. While at first disliking the main character, as the story develops, you begin to feel bad for hating her so much. I experienced a lot of stressful shouting moments throughout this film and it’s safe to say I could have done with a drink at the end LOL. This film really highlights the ugliness and toxicity of what some relationships can be. A must watch.

Diary | The Very Tired Girl

the-very-tired-girl

These last two weeks seem to have blended into each other for me, I feel like I’m in a weird movie montage where there’s just loads of little chopped up clips of my life, and at the end there’s just a shot of me collapsing on a bed.

Last week I went to the dentist, to get a full checkup and x ray of my arsehole of a wisdom tooth that started growing through, which turns out is slightly impacted, so if I happen to start getting infections, it will have to come out. Sick.

While I was there I also had to get a filling, which cost me FIFTY THREE POUNDS.  On the same day as my brothers 16th birthday, who literally minutes before the appointment, I had stuffed a load of cash into his card. This left me poor for the remainder of the week.

Look after your teeth kids, shits expensive. And painful. V painful.

The rest of the week, I was lucky enough to get in a bit of visual training as a few of them were off work, which I won’t lie, I had no fucking clue what I was doing as it had been so long, and the first day I was slower than a snail at everything, but I learned how to dress and style mannequins, and folded a tables that took me HOURS that was later destroyed by evil people who want to watch the world burn.

SERIOUSLY THERE’S SIZE TAPE FOR A REASON GUYS.

Why cant people just neatly lift the pile for the size they need and then put it back? *sobs* WHY?!

Also, lifting and dressing 9 adult sized mannequins? IT HURTS. The day after I woke up and felt like I’d fallen down at least 45 flights of stairs.

Valentines day, Marek made dinner, and I followed up with some “Valentines Sundaes” which was essentially some good ol’ Haagen Dazs, strawberry cheesecake flavoured, with some whipped cream and strawberry sauce. And not to brag, but daaamn it was good.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The rest of the week I went back to shifts ending at 7/7:30pm and on my sixth day in a row at work yesterday, I honestly don’t know how I made it through the day without killing someone or crying tbh.

Anyone wants me? I’ll be in my bed for the rest of the weekend making no noise and pretending I don’t exist.

So I rounded up a couple of saucy and cute lil numbers for all different tastes.

#WhatIWatched | January ’17

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So, as it’s well known by everyone that knows anything about me, I spend a lot of time inside binge watching shows. A lot.

And with that, I’ve decided to create a mini series of all the shows/films I’ve watched in the month, because mate, I get through them quick.

TV:

Peaky Blinders

I started watching this after being recommended it by my dad, and damn son, its good. It’s set in 1919, around a criminal gang led by Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy). If you like a good ol’ gangster crime drama, this is definitely for you. Not to mention it also features Tom Hardy from time to time with a bit of the same personality as when he played Ron Kray in Legend.

There’s definitely a lot nail biting, “omg  I can’t believe that happened” moments and you grow to love all of the family, as arrogant or annoying as some of them may be, y’know, just as you love your own.

peaky-blinders

The OA

I saw this as a new show on Netflix recently, and myself and Marek decided to give it a go, with only the knowledge that the main character Prarie went missing for seven years, and was blind, but after returning, has regained full sight. It’s definitely not what I expected from that description, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it.

It’s pretty much a fantasy/ mystery style that grips you in from the very first episode, and ends leaving you with many questions that will probs keep you awake all night week thinking about. Soz.

Taboo

*Ahem* Sooo this show also has Tom Hardy in it. It’s currently an ongoing series on BBC,  set in 1814 around James Delaney (Tom) who returns to England after living in Africa for 12 years to attend his fathers funeral and begins to take over control of his fathers businesses despite the conflicts he has with the East India Trading Company.

There’s a bit of a weird Game Of Thrones style uh.. “sibling love” shall we say, between himself and his half sister, and he can apparently preform ancient magic which usually involves sitting in his pants, covering himself in powder and mumbling some stuff. But what’s a good show without a little bit of weirdness, right?

 Film:

Split

People with multiple personality disorders have always fascinated me, I’ve watched a few documentaries on people that have them, and it’s amazing to see how they change. I expected good things from the trailer, and it didn’t disappoint.

I liked how some of his personalities were formed based off of his life events, And James Mcavoy played the characters so well (as per) You really believed he was a different person every time.

Shout out to Hedwig and his sick dance moves btw. I feel you.

Goals + Plans #2017

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So last year around 6 months ago, I made a “Current Goals + Plans” post which can be found here , where I listed a few things I wanted to do in the next 6 months to a year.

(I’ve crossed of the ones I did achieve because y’know it makes me feel accomplished and all that)

Some of them I achieved a lot quicker than I expected, and others I could have if I tried a bit harder. For example, I did try and start a bullet journal, even making a pinterest board for all kinds of inspo, but I wasn’t really that focused on it.

And driving lessons. Haha. Ummm so I DO own a provisional now! *cough* I only applied for it 3 weeks ago *cough* WHAT WHO SAID THAT?! I will start them soon. I just need some mental prep.

But anyway, carrying on with the point of this post, I have a few new plans and goals I want to set myself. But this time, I’m going to give myself a year to complete all of them, because sometimes life is hard and so I feel its slightly more generous and won’t make me feel disappointed in 6 months time if I haven’t achieved them.

So here they are:

End Of Year Goals:

x Have the flat decorated

START DRIVING LESSONS AND PASS TEST

Build savings back up to 4 figure amount

x Try harder with blog (at least 1 post a week)

x Learn how to cook a variety of meals

x Buy more clothes

Get out and do things more often

Take more care of skin

x Drink more water

x Get braces

Spend more time with family

I realize these goals aren’t groundbreaking or considered “hard” but I’m quite content with my life right now, and honestly, these are the things that would just make it that bit better.

And I also plan to continue trying to complete the goals I didn’t complete last year, which I will update accordingly with dates achieved (if I remember!)
